JOB DESCRIPTION

The Community Schemes Ombud Service Act (Act 9 of 2011) was promulgated on 11 June 2011 and provides for the establishment of the Community Schemes Ombud Service (“CSOS”) as a public entity. The CSOS has been classified as a Schedule 3A Public Entity in terms of the Public Finance Management Act (Act No.1 of 1999) (PFMA).

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualification and experience required:

 Grade 12.
 Recognized Degree or equivalent qualification: LLB or B Proc.
 Admission as an Attorney or Advocate.
 Specialist knowledge in POPIA.
 Years of experience: Minimum of 4 years legal experience (post admission) at a law firm or in a similar role.
 Valid driver’s licence and must be willing to travel.
 MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

The candidate should possess the following attributes:

Key duties attached to post:

 Conduct legal research and provide sound legal advice timeously.
 Investigate, gather and analyse evidence on matters assigned.
 update existing internal policies and procedures.
 Consult with internal and external stakeholders.
 Draft and settle legal opinions.
 Support the Section and/or entity during consultations with internal and external
 stakeholders.
 Attend Supply Chain bid committee meetings and provide legal inputs.
 Create and maintain the Legal Opinions and Bid Committees registers.
 Quality review external legal opinions to ensure that instructions have been covered adequately and sound legal advice has been provided.
 Prepare submissions for Management, Executive and Board Committees as and when requested by the Manager.
 Prepare and submit accurate monthly reports to the Manager on activities undertaken by the agreed deadlines.
 Establish and maintain relations with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure support and cooperation.
 Draft and implement related policies, procedures and processes in line with the organisation’s strategic goals and objectives. Establish and maintain a good working relationship with external Attorneys and Counsel.
