The Community Schemes Ombud Service Act (Act 9 of 2011) was promulgated on 11 June 2011 and provides for the establishment of the Community Schemes Ombud Service (“CSOS”) as a public entity. The CSOS has been classified as a Schedule 3A Public Entity in terms of the Public Finance Management Act (Act No.1 of 1999) (PFMA).
Qualification and experience required:
Grade 12.
Recognized Degree or equivalent qualification: LLB or B Proc.
Admission as an Attorney or Advocate.
Specialist knowledge in POPIA.
Years of experience: Minimum of 4 years legal experience (post admission) at a law firm or in a similar role.
Valid driver’s licence and must be willing to travel.
MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Key duties attached to post:
Conduct legal research and provide sound legal advice timeously.
Investigate, gather and analyse evidence on matters assigned.
update existing internal policies and procedures.
Consult with internal and external stakeholders.
Draft and settle legal opinions.
Support the Section and/or entity during consultations with internal and external
stakeholders.
Attend Supply Chain bid committee meetings and provide legal inputs.
Create and maintain the Legal Opinions and Bid Committees registers.
Quality review external legal opinions to ensure that instructions have been covered adequately and sound legal advice has been provided.
Prepare submissions for Management, Executive and Board Committees as and when requested by the Manager.
Prepare and submit accurate monthly reports to the Manager on activities undertaken by the agreed deadlines.
Establish and maintain relations with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure support and cooperation.
Draft and implement related policies, procedures and processes in line with the organisation’s strategic goals and objectives. Establish and maintain a good working relationship with external Attorneys and Counsel.
